full name Adam Oscar Ingram. ________________________________________ "Meeting Scarlett when I first moved to New York probably saved my life. Sounds dramatic, but I'm being frank. Scar owns this bar in Brooklyn, foods alright in the day and it can get pretty busy at night. She gave me a job there, let me bus tables until one of the waiter's quit and let me have that too. Not sure why she likes me, but she does. The bar makes enough to get by, and she can't afford to pay me a lot, but she let's me keep all the tips when we work together. I think she knows I don't have much. Scar's good enough, a bit of a hard ass and makes a mean drink if she's feeling nice. She's talented, I think I just short of begged her to play with me. Our relationship is simple, she doesn't ask questions until I'm ready to tell her the answers. The girl's uncomplicated and no fuss. Her boyfriend makes big bank, always jetting off here and there and he doesn't really come around. For some reason I get the feeling Scar prefers it. I like to think I'm a pretty likeable guy but she's the only friend I've got in New York, period. I don't know, neither of us get out much. Scar's basically my sister, my boss, and my friend. Plus she makes the most unreal Mac and Cheese. Fuck, that's good. We've been playing together for three months now, she's more talented than I am by a long shot. I swear we get the gigs we do because of her voice." "I fell in love with Adam when he was 19 and I was 16. Maybe love isn't the right word for it. We were stupid then, both collectively and seperately. I drank a lot, he did a bunch of drugs. Adam didn't go to college because he was waiting for me to finish high school, working at the local Shell and playing open mics at the bar in town. Neither of us grew up hungry but we didn't grow up in wealthy families either. Both of our households run by middle class, white parents. I had my dad and he had his mum and Susie, but there wasn't anyone else other than that. He might have had a lot of dreams, once. He doesn't have them now, not after the accident and the DUI. 'The Accident' ended a lot of things, our relationship (luckily) being the biggest casualty. I broke a few bones and they healed, but we never did. When he crashed that car he wasn't the same afterward. Nobody could look at him afterward. He moved away to New York a few months ago and I haven't heard from him since. I don't think either have anything left in us to try." ________________________________________ your name holly |
