FULL NAME Georgiana Margaret Fitzgerald DATE OF BIRTH 08/02/93 (21) HOME TOWN River Ridge, Louisiana CURRENT CITY New Orleans, Louisiana EDUCATION High school diploma OCCUPATION Bartender
________________________________________ One should always be drunk. That's the great thing: the only question. Not to feel the horrible burden of time weighing on your shoulders, and bowing you to the Earth, you should be drunk without respite. I got into alcohol at a young age. I think I was maybe 15 or so when I had my first taste of beer, and from that point on...it kind of didn't stop. My life was in shambles basically from the start, and when it came to getting a job right after high school, it was a no brainer. Cajun Mike's is a place I've been going to since forever, and they gave me a job at 17 as a waitress. Once I turned 21, they gave me a job as a bartender...well, after getting my bartending license. I've been working at Cajun Mike's as a bartender for the last year or so and it's been great. The pay is good, and it gets me money for rent and food on the table. It's not ideal, but until I get into school and find a real person job, Cajun Mike's will have to work.
DAKOTA PIPER FITZGERALD, 38, BIRTH-MOTHER Dakota Fitzgerald, is, as you guessed it, my birth mother. She became pregnant with me at the young age of 16, and decided to have me to the full term. Once I was brought into the world, however, Dakota decided to split as a mother and gave me off to the federal agencies in hopes of being given off to a better home. Unfortunately, I was never adopted and was bounced between several different foster homes until the age of 16. When 16 came around, I decided to emancipate myself and was kind of off on my own since then. Dakota wasn't a bad mother --- she just made a lot of bad choices. She got mixed in with the wrong crowd, wrong boys, and never came out of it. Funny enough, I'm kind of in the same boat now. Except my world is completely different than hers -- at least I think it is.
JESSE O'CONNOR, 25, BOYFRIEND The relationship that I share with Jesse is something no one but us understands. Not even my closest friends get it, or understand why I keep going back to him. He took me under his wings when I turned 14, and had me hooked on every drug in the book. He got me started on alcohol shortly after that. He got me back on my feet after being emancipated, and took me when nobody else wanted me. He even hooked me up with the job at Cajun Mike's -- and for that, I'm eternally grateful. He may look rough on the exterior, and he may give off this certain persona, but behind that, is something extremely soft. He can be volatile and his moods are unpredictable, but I've gotten used to this persona of his. When we began dating, he changed. Something changed in him. And when I fell pregnant a few months ago, well...everything changed. The two of us are completely different people. Undergoing the abortion was something I never wanted to go through, but with Jesse by my side through it all, it helped. It wasn't as scary...I wasn't as scared.
New Orleans, has, and will always be, home for me. I couldn't imagine ever growing up in any other city besides New Orleans. I've always been a "French Quarter" kind of girl, and could honestly never see myself living anywhere else. New Orleans is kind of a part of me now, you know?
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed. Never throw out anyone.
