............................................................................... twenty-four. personal assistant. nyc ............................................................................... ✡ ✡ ✡ born in bethesda, maryland to a persian jewish dad that still doesn't know how to english after being here his entire life and an american jewish mother who didn't know any better when she married him. second child born, only girl. named after her mother's best friend who passed away before she was born who was coincidentally named after the "casa bianca" mikveh in ortygia. she was technically born bianca shachar tzvia vahedi but aaliyah is her persian name presented by her father. has one older brother named caspian rashne vahedi who has a stick up his ass because hes constantly being pressured for perfection by their father and he works in d.c. probably doing something with a suit where he can be meticulous and stuck up but also miserable. she changed her last name to tate because she was intent on living her life as she wanted it without the religious beliefs of her orthodox parents restraining her and didn't want anything she did to reflect poorly on her parents. she still fears her father's rejection, truthfully, and she wanted a 'new identity' to start her new chapter in life. she used to be an actuary at one of the banks her family owns working under her father. she lied to her dad about what she was doing. he thinks she got a better job at one of new york's major banks and she lets him believe that. her mom knows. her brother knows. but she's never telling her dad because his reaction is the thing that can make or break her progress and she knows it. shes only working as a personal assistant because it's an easy job for her while she tries to find her actual passion. ✡ ✡ ✡ personality due to the stereotypes and poor reactions she gets from people, aaliyah openly pretends she isn't as smart as she is. people only see a pretty face and nice knockers and, so, she gives them that persona because it's better than the isolation she has felt growing up. since she's not perfect and a complete novice at this pretending to be someone else thing, she slips up due to certain quirks and compulsive issues she has. like she may wait until no one is around, but she's going to solve that numbers issue she saw in the logs or she's going to organize your things. it's just something she can't easily train herself out of. she's the kind of girl that does thing to prove a point, maybe to a fault, which means that she leans in towards the preconceived stereotypes that people have upon meeting her just to give them a proverbial slap to the face when they realize she's gaming them. in reality, she is a free-spirit albeit not of the flower child variety. aaliyah simply enjoys experiencing life as it comes. ✡ ✡ ✡ quirks Counts steps taken while walking to clear her head, Has a compulsive disorder with numbers/organization, Cannot drink anything with ice in it, Has an eye twitch when annoyed/angry, Plays dumb often, Claustrophobic and hates confinement of any kind, Prefers to sit on the arm of chairs or couches rather than the seat, Can solve a Rubiks cube in under a minute, Can solve a difficult Sudoku in under 5 minutes, Good at card games, Bites lip when in deep thought, Can calculate the total of any items put in a shopping car and tax within $0.05, Is always at least ten minutes early to any meeting or appointment, Writes with left hand, but does everything else right-handed. ✡ ✡ ✡ traits Blunt, Practical, Adaptable, Assertive, Complex, Diligent, Dry, Honorable, Observant, Playful, Tactful, Witty. ✡ ✡ ✡ ENFJ Extravert(33%) iNtuitive(25%) Feeling(50%) Judging(11%) ✡ ✡ ✡ virtues Candor, Acuity, Awareness, Confidence, Dauntlessness, Thoroughness ✡ ✡ ✡ vices Manipulative, Secrecy, Tricky, Wildness ✡ ✡ ✡ archetypes Catalyst: Makes things happen Explorer/Wanderer: Wants to see the world—could be running from something Investigator: thrives on puzzles and riddles Masquerader: pretends to be something she is not Survivor: pulls through no matter what happens, doesn't give up Trickster/Jester: always looking for the humor in a situation ✡ ✡ ✡ tv tropes Mistaken Nationality In Real Life, people far too often make erroneous assumptions about others based on flimsy or non-existent evidence. This is especially the case when regarding those who in some way are "outsiders". Often, hilariously wrong assumptions will be made based solely on appearance, failing to take into account the behaviour of the subject or other relevant circumstances. One common form of this is to presume that a foreign-looking person belongs to such-and-such nationality and getting it very wrong. This also happens with people of nationalities with animosity towards each other, e.g. some former Soviet countries assuming people are Russian. Assumed Badass Israeli Israelis are badass. No ifs, ands, or buts. They are a Proud Warrior Nation and it is a national law that each one must have a Moment Of Awesome on his Bar Mitzvah. The polite softspoken Israeli with glasses is a myth. If one miraculously appears, you can count on him being a Badass Bookworm. If an Israeli is a villain you can count on him being something cool like an Arms Dealer or an assassin. Every female Israeli is an Action Girl Squadette who always looks great in her combat fatigues and beret with her Uzi jauntily slung over her shoulder. Every male Israeli is an Ace Pilot, or a spy for the Mossad (their other intelligence agencies are so secretive, Hollywood hasn't heard of them; and anyway no one can beat that name for coolness). The Israeli Defense Force does not have a single Obstructive Bureaucrat like, oh, every other army in the entire world. It is too much of a Badass Army. Israeli-born Jews' preferred nickname for themselves evokes the same trope. Tsabar (pl. tsabarim) — borrowed into English as "sabra" — are cactus fruits, soft and sweet on the inside, but tough, thorny and nigh impenetrable outside. "Two Jews, three opinions." Black Sheep A Black Sheep is not just someone who doesn't fit in with the family — it's someone who rejects their role in the family, either deliberately or not. Or possibly someone whose reputation or morality is at odds with the family reputation/morality, because it makes them different from the rest of the family. Deadpan Snarker The Deadpan Snarker exists to deflate pomposity, point out the unlikelihood of certain plans, and deliver funny lines. Typically the most cynical supporting character. In most cases, it is implied that the snarker would make a good leader, strategist, or consultant given their ability to instantly see the flaws in a constructed plan. More often than not, their innate snarkiness is the only thing preventing the other characters from comprehending this for themselves. In other cases, the Deadpan Snarker resorts to sarcasm because they're the Only Sane Man. Tends to be shot a Death Glare when they go too far (and probably isn't without one of their own, either). Note that due to the definition evolving, the "Deadpan" part of the title has gradually become The Artifact and a deadpan delivery is no longer a necessary part of the trope. Secretly Wealthy In fiction, it's apparently very hard for the wealthy to avoid being either a Rich Bitch or Spoiled Sweet, both are scorned by the average man. Many Genre Savvy characters spot this trend and hide their wealth. For some they've even been separated from the family, and are wealthy in name only. Expect these characters to be kind, caring and generally the opposite of a Rich Bitch, so that the reveal of their wealth is more shocking. In Real Life, there are several advantages to attempting this. Large wealth disparity tends to create serious rifts in casual social interaction; friends of a lower income class may secretly resent you, or expect large monetary gifts and favors. On the other side of the coin, it is also hard to know who likes you for yourself, and who only likes you for your money (this is a reason many rich people only cavort amongst their own class). In addition, those who are known to be wealthy are frequent targets for lawsuits, and family members may even be targeted for kidnapping by those looking for a ransom. Hiding your wealth can prevent many problems like these. Good Angel, Bad Angel In Islamic tradition the two kiraman katibin (Arabic: كراماً كاتبين "honourable scribes"), are two angels called Raqib and Atid, believed by Muslims to record a person's actions, thoughts and feelings. Whether a person is sent to Jannah (paradise) or Jahannam (hell/purgatory) is not, however, dependent on whether good deeds outweigh bad deeds; but is ultimately up to Allah's mercy upon a believer. Manic Pixie Dream Girl Let's say you're a soulful, brooding male hero, living a sheltered, emotionless existence. If only someone could come along and open your heart to the great, wondrous adventure of life... Have no fear, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl is here to give new meaning to the male hero's life! She's stunningly attractive, high on life, full of wacky quirks and idiosyncrasies (generally including childlike playfulness and a tendency towards petty crime), often with a touch of wild hair dye. She's inexplicably obsessed with our stuffed-shirt hero, on whom she will focus her kuh-razy antics until he learns to live freely and love madly. ....................
