You know when you’re at a function you don’t really want to be at, one that’s not awful but not at all fun either? Like a professional obligation. But it’s supposed to be enjoyable, like client drinks, for example. So you sit and you force a smile and you tell people what they want to hear, and whilst it’s not all that difficult per se, when you finally get to stop you realize you’re exhausted from the effort?
That’s what it felt like. Except that’s what my whole life feels like, and being with you was like getting to stop.
