"She did. Can you believe it??" Dolly's former relationship continued to be a source of amusement for Thompson even now, who'd still joke with his brothers about it despite being in an estranged marriage to a cocktail waitress. He snaps to look at her as she says they broke up, his eyes bright with a joyfulness that could only be compared to the girls' when they saw the Disneyland sign. "Oh Cece, I'm so sorry. That's devastating news." His fingers absently trail along her skin as a shit eating grin sneaks across his face. "Well aren't we just a regular lonely hearts club?"

"He was kind of dumb, right? She can do better." She and Tommy used to religiously send each other Theo Lovett's Instagram posts, belly laughing at each shirtless selfie the paramedic shared. Princess rolls her eyes at him, knowing that he'd be relishing in her break-up with Noah. "I can tell you're so upset," she digs her fingers into him and grins. "I didn't even know you were seeing someone."

He looks at her like she’s insane, “do you really think there was any chance she’d marry some male nurse?” The sun seems to be brighter and warmer for her news, making him beam along with it. “I’m talking about you, stupid. You might have been whoring about but our break up is as fresh as yesterday for me.” He yawns, glancing inside and wondering what food there’d be in for him to scavenge later. “I trust Esme’s set up a guest room for you? My bedroom is all mine I’m afraid, strictly me only.”

Princess grins. She was sure Tommy's father wouldn't have been able to handle another marriage like theirs - first his son marrying her trailer trash self and then his daughter marrying some guy off the street. "Oh!" she laughs, rolling onto her back and letting her chest feel the warmth of the sun. "I really was only here for the pool," she remarks, her hand returning to guard her eyes from the glare of the sun, "my own bed is calling."

It was one thing for Tommy, the family fuck up to marry down, but it would be quite another for Dolly, the Weathers poster girl, to do so. Looking at his topless trailer trash wife he’s glad he got to do what he wanted. “Alright, but before you scurry back to your shack you need to wait for the girls so you can take them with you. I’ll tie weights to their ankles and throw them in the pool if I have to do another day.”

"Nooooo," Princess pouts, her bottom lip swelling from it's place. "You already said tomorrow, so it's tomorrow. I've mentally committed." Princess sits up, her hair falling down her bare back like a waterfall. She stands from the lounger, surveying the perfectly manicured yard around her before looking back at Tommy, "besides, I think Dolly is overdue for some auntie time."

Thompson rolls his eyes at her response, feeling a flicker of irritation that he doesn't bother to voice. Instead he reaches into his pants pocket and pulls out a watermelon flavored vape, taking a long pull and blowing out sweet smoke. "What do you think of the new place?"

[princess weathers]

The false smell of watermelon sticks to the air and Princess shrivels her nose in disapproval. Her long legs step around the pool, carefully stepping one stride per tile as she walks the length of it as though it was her runway. "It's stupid big," she turns sharply to face him and walk back his way. Her perfect chest is on display for whatever staff is left in the house, but she doesn't really give it much of a thought. "What's the point of it?"

"Go big or go home. Speaking of, you probably should go home." She looks even more perfect than they day they got married, which is mildly irritating to him now. Just once he'd love for her to have an acne breakout, or maybe some horrific disfiguring accident... maybe that would be too far. He takes another drag on the plastic tube between his fingers, his fingertips sporting chipped nail polish. "The point is it's where I live. That's the point."

"Why?" she looks miffed at him, her hands comb her golden hair into a mess atop her head and she lets it fall down her shoulders. "Am I bothering you?" she paces once more up the pool, her tiny bikini bottoms disappearing between her cheeks as she walks. "It's nice, not as nice as your old place," she plants herself at the end of the pool and sinks her feet into the salt water.

“If I wanted the opinion of a trailer trash prom queen from fuck knows where, I’d have brought you along to the viewings.” He is annoyed, disproportionately so, and not afraid to show it. With great effort, he pulls his eyes away from her and takes her place on the sun lounger, enjoying the heat on his face. “When this divorce comes through you’ll be lucky to afford an apartment on Skid Row.”
