E. Howe It's better you know that now instead of finding out the hard way. Usually they're better researchers than they are teachers, especially the older folks. I'm glad. I don't see you in office hours often, seems like you're doing ok on your own?

M I R R E N Just very set in their ways, will take things to their graves! Yeah well, I kind of have a built in tutor on speed dial. Ruby mentioned dragging me sometime, it's not her forte. Has she come in - blonde, probably pretty direct?

E. Howe Pretty much. Tenure helps too. Yeah, she comes in pretty regularly. You two grew up together?

M I R R E N Doesn't help when new technology comes out, that's for sure. Oh, I didn't know that. I've known her since I was born, literally. Or moms are best friends, went to college here together too.

[everett howe]

E. Howe I'm sure BrightSpace had them reeling when it first came out. You don't ever study together? Some legacy students, I see.

M I R R E N Zoom classes? Their worst nightmare. We do sometimes, but we have different schedules. She's out and about, I'm usually with Matt - lots going on. Always been the dream, yeah.

[everett howe]

E. Howe It took them two years to figure it out, then they stopped needing to use it. Classic. It's cool that you're both here and you've been friends. A good way to start college.

M I R R E N Sounds about right! Yeah, I feel like we've talked about it for long it still feels weird that it's real. She's already got a year on me so, finding my own way too. Do you still like being in school?

[everett howe]

E. Howe Get used to it and enjoy it, you worked for it. I do, yeah. Grad school is a different beast but I like research and being more independent. Less hand holding.

M I R R E N Thanks, Everett. Er..TA Howe? That's very formal. I don't know, I think I benefit with more direction sometimes. Might not be for me.

E. Howe My name is fine, no cool titles yet. I won't be Dr. Howe until a few more years. It's not for everyone. Get through undergrad first. I assume you live on campus?

M I R R E N ❗ Dr. Everett ❗ Yeah - but it's also fun having the campus be the city. Can do anything, at any time! NYC is so convenient, that's like, my favorite thing.

E. Howe Are you from here? Or is that just Matthew and his family.

M I R R E N Grew up in Westchester so right outside, been back and forth to the city all my life, have never missed a Macy's Day Parade and never will. You?

[everett howe]

E. Howe Oh nice, I think I've heard of that place before. I'm from San Diego, a little different from here. I did my undergrad there too so I know how it is to stay close to home for college.
