M I R R E N It's all interesting - my mom knows I'll always have a soft spot for science! Sometimes it gives people options they never thought they'd have. In life and in death. My mom and her two best friends, I grew up with them and their kids. We were always together, have been most of our lives. They all still live close now.

E. Howe Is the third friend in my class too? I didn't realize you came in triplicate.

M I R R E N Ah, no - he lives out in East Hampton and is a couple years older than me. His mom actually is Dean of Admissions at NYU, though. So family is around!

E. Howe I really am dealing with NYU royalty here apparently. The Hamptons are nice, my aunt has a house there. Is it a good visit for spring break?

M I R R E N I'd like to think we're making our own names for the future. If you want something calm, yeah! It's pretty sleepy beach towns until the summer when everyone comes out every weekend. We've had a house there our moms all split, so we always try to get out there too.

E. Howe I'm starting to prefer those places in the off season, it's refreshing. San Diego isn't like that. And here we deal with enough crowds and crap in the city.

M I R R E N The city might get gross but the sidewalks always glitter <3 What's San Diego like? Never been.

E. Howe Glitter with what is the question sometimes. I've heard it described a few ways to outsiders: as LA's stoner brother, if LA and Honolulu had a baby, a bunch of small towns in the trench coat of a big city. I'm biased but it's what people think of for stereotypical California, better than LA or the Bay Area do.

E. Howe Just for that I'm throwing in a lecture on the chemical properties of phyllosilicates next week. Honestly, pretty much. I don't know, people tell me all the time they think I'm from the northeast. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.

E. Howe Nothing but air for these lungs. Stress already takes enough years off my life, no need for more. Do you?
