God, that's not a flattering scenario for me.
Do you think it shaped your idea of what relationships are like? I think I stuck it out longer than I should have because of my parents' example.

my parents stopped getting along so i'm glad i saw a healthy example of breaking up and co-parenting. that love isn't stagnant, it takes work but also grows and changes. they're better as friends, they've both remarried. do you think your parents' long marriage influenced how long you stayed in your relationship? |

That's a good way of thinking about it.
Oh for sure. They made a point that relationships are something you work through, that it's not always roses and rainbows but you stick it out. Which is generally not bad advice but I probably took it too seriously... both of them encouraged me to end things a while ago, so I can't say they didn't try.
