 full name Selena Lile Aleksandra Gunnerson ________________________________________ Selena "Smoking Gunn" Gunnerson is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Her band, Cathedral Blcvk, is currently on their third album under Epic Records. While Selena doesn't speak much of her personal life in interviews, she is frequently the focus behind paparazzi's cameras. Frequently, however, she states that she likes 'boundaries' and likes to be able to go back home and relax at her special hideouts without people harassing her friends and it's not uncommon for her to disappear from the spotlight for months on end. She was born in Flagstaff, Arizona but grew up in Denver, Colorado but she hasn't spoken much about her home life except that her parents are good people and she hopes she's done right by them. he's spoken more in her latest interview with Black Velvet Rock Magazine than she has over the past years. Here's the interview: INTERVIEWER Wow. I must say, I'm kind of in awe. You're becoming such a hit in the rock community, darling. How's that feel? SELENA: Oh god, don't be. I'm literally just a chick who likes rock and roll more than I like air. Just like anyone else that's worth a damn. I don't know how to feel. It's weird. I spent all that time doing it because I loved it, and I'll probably always do it because of that, but the boys deserved more so I went that extra mile even if it means I have to have powwows with random people. No offense. INTERVIEWER I doubt that. Most chicks who like rock and roll don't look and sound like you, it's a fact. None taken, I can see where you would feel that way. You always say you did it for 'your boys'. Why? I know you guys have been together for a while before the record label, and can I congratulate you on landing that deal because....wow. SELENA: (She laughs a little at this little fan gushing I'm doing. Have I mentioned I love her laugh?) Are you flirting with me? I don't know whether to be flattered or freaked. Yeah 'cause I did. Those boys mean everything to me. I've known then for years and we've all been doing this since we were fourteen except Knight. He came a year after we lost a band member in a car accident but it's like he was meant to be, you know? Can't express how much I miss the one I lost, but Knight's a good friend to have and even though I've never been interested in fame they've stuck by me through all of this and if anyone deserves the awards that come from making good music then they do. I can't give them everything, but I could give them this and it means a lot to me. Thanks. It still freaks me out that people scream it in my face that I'm signed to a good label. Like okay I know it's been three years now. INTERVIEWER We see a lot of things about you and the lads in the media, usually following trouble. Do you see yourself as the trouble-makers the media deemed you? SELENA: Dude, I don't know why the media has such a hard-on for me and my boys, seriously. We don't do anything. I mean, seriously. We just like to have fun. It's not like we're peddling drugs. It's annoying, to be honest. I just like to chill out with my family and for some reason anytime anything normal happens we get slammed by the media. I'm not really a trouble-maker, but I'll admit that when shit goes down I tend to be around. INTERVIEWER Alright and the last little thing you know the guys in the world want to know. What's it looking like on the relationship front? Anyone special in your life? A few of your songs seem like they're talking to someone specifically. SELENA: Hahahaha. In my life? No. I'm single, babe. I will say this though - those songs are about the same person and I'll probably be singing about them for a long time.
