July 31, 2013 PERSONAL , THE MOVE
Paris, Paris, Paris. When I first moved here a few months ago, I felt as though I was about to shit my pants. Marseille can be busy, but Paris is a whole other form of busy, not to mention it's a bit bigger. I think I probably pissed about ten people off on my first day here, getting lost and looking naive. The look for a place to stay was an adventure in itself, as I had no job, no money, except for what I saved up from working at the market and my various others jobs (dog walking, babysitter, photographer's apprentice, maid, barista, hostess - the list goes on!). And let me tell you, that was hardly enough for what I ended up getting. I ended up finding a place in an eclectic neighborhood, with a bat shit cray landlord, and i've loved it ever since. It's my place, my space, and I don't have to worry about it being invaded by anyone who I don't choose. Paris is so vibrant, rich with culture, artistic and free, and I don't regret the move at all.
For any of you afraid of taking on a new city all on your own at a young age, let me just tell you, it's all about finding that confidence. You might feel home sick, but at the end of the day, remind yourself why going back is not a choice for you at all. For me, home was hindering me. I was in a cage, completely unable to branch out other than becoming like my mother. And as many of you know, becoming like my mother is literal grounds for suicide. I wish school was in my future, as I kind of really enjoyed it, and I am a believer that education can open a lot of great doors for you, but i've come to terms with the fact that it probably won't be any time soon. Styling hair isn't that bad though. In fact I think it's growing on me. The gossip is always amusing to say the least. Plus, it's a place to be a little artistic, and i'm hoping to get my first big chance to help at an upcoming fashion show soon. Probably nothing major, but even a small shoot or show would be amazing. Got to get my name out there somehow, right?

A lot of you have been asking about Nicolas and I, and I guess i'll just say, we both decided to take different paths. Long distance has never been my thing, and honestly, i'm young. As some of you are aware, Nicolas is seven years older than me, and despite the fact that we got quite a lot of disapproving looks and the never ending gossip, we were good together. Really good. And I don't talk about my relationships much on here, because I normally hate it, and i'm a fairly private person. But I just wanted to say this, especially for any other girls or even guys, in similar situations. Romance is great, but I still haven't found myself yet. And the last thing I want to do is be defined by my relationships and not who I am, or what i've done.
August 10, 2013 PERSONAL , A FAMILY PORTRAIT
My mother Ameline is of Spanish and French origin, though she's so adamant about not acknowledging the former side of her. She finds it a completely disgraceful, and if I had to guess, really, really, guess, I think it has to do with the fact that our family on her side is poverty stricken thieves. And the fact that they supposedly cursed her with the ability to only marry underachieving men with pretty faces. She spent years trying to find ways to escape her past, moving to Paris, becoming a showgirl and then having a couple of failed relationships with men of the upper class. She was forced to become a maid to keep herself a float eventually, and found work within politician circles for a while before coming to Marseille when all else failed. She's very much religious, having taken us to church twice a week, and whenever my brother I were on bad behavior, she'd take us more. Though by the time I was twelve, she had all but given up on taking us, and instead stuck to whining that we lived to give her ulcers and an early heart attack. Sometimes at night before bed, i'd hear her praying for us. But it was never for well being really, but more so that we'd marry wealthy. Or that my boobs would expand 3x more. You know, the important stuff. She means well, but it's never actually always there.
My father Christophe is a fisherman. He's been in Marseille all his life, and was a son of a fisherman and sailor, and they were sons of fishermans and sailors and the list dates all the way back as far as I was ever able to handle hearing in one sitting. Fish and sailing are his life, to the say the least. I used to spend hours constantly trying to get the smell of fish and the sea out of my clothes, but to no avail, and spent my childhood dealing with the nickname of fish bitch at school. My father is a rugged man, he's more known for his actions than words, and prefers to spend his time away with other likeminded people as him. It's why when he gets the chance, he'll be gone for months on end at sea. Having a girl must have been a disappointment for him, for i'm sure more sons would have appeased his sailor side, though he did teach me a few things growing up. And I can at least say that if i'm ever stuck out at sea, i'll probably have a better chance at surviving than 90% of the rest. Whenever he comes back from time at sea, he does what any responsible father does - He gambles. My mother believes in lotteries, and my father gambling his savings away. If you ask me, they are a match made in heaven.
My brother Romain is a spitting image of my father. Stubborn, lives and breathes the sea, and isn't very well known to be the kindest. Whatever money he makes from fishing, he pockets, even if that means we go without a dinner or lunch here and there. He's just stingy that way. I know he's saving up for a big expedition soon, so that's good for him. I just wish he sometimes cared a little more about the others around him. Namely his family. He used to be with this girl, Brigitte for two years, but she was a bit of a head case, but meant well and adored him, though he dumped her about a few months ago. She still carries a torch for him, and I don't know whether it's a little bit sweet or completely absurd. Rome is naturally charming when he needs to be, and i've seen him get in and out of hard or troubling situations on multiple occasions. He's been called a lot of horrible names by the locals, mostly those in trading businesses, but I try to stay out of it all. He's my brother after all, and to be honest, he's the only family I have that is half decent.

My mother's a lying cunt. My mother's a lying cunt. My mother's a lying cunt. My father is not my father. My father is not my father. My father is not my father.
My world is about to be invaded.
