 twenty-three, new zealander, australian ballet dancer, alcoholic, widowed, hopeless romantic.
Ok this is Raya, obviously, she was born and raised in New Zealand, but from the moment she could walk, her parents - who were both dancers - pushed her into the ballet world, which meant she did a lot of traveling. During her teenage years, she spent quite a bit of time exploring various ballet companies around the world. From Berlin to Russia (though she hates the cold so that was immediately a no-go) to her own backdoor - Russia. She went to ballet schools in England and France and essentially never sat still for longer than a year - even once she joined with The Australian Company. A bit over a year ago, her husband - an ex-dancer she had dated since she was a teenager - overdosed on heroin so she has been self-medicating ever since.
Raya has friends all over the world from her travels and whatnot, but none of them terribly close. She only considers a few people to be close. In her own mind, she's a rather great friend, but she can be a bit of a brat if she thinks you're the one being annoying. She's not going to take anyone seriously if she feels like you're whining about something trivial or trying to start up some sort of drama. She just wants to dance and drink and find someone to share her bed with. Raya can be selfless when she wants or if she thinks someone is genuinely hurt, she'll even go out of her way to try to help you. Just don't go to her about stupid things. Before her husband died, she was a lot more tolerate, all "aw's" and hugs, but now she's not quite so sympathetic.
Which, I quite imagine would alienate a lot of people. She probably has at least handful of people that hate her because of how shameless she can be and/or maybe she fucked them over while drunk, idk. She also has some major haters in the ballet world, because what's ballet without a bitter rivalry? There are probably some people that hate Raya if Isaiah didn't pay his debts or he slept with someone that he promised the world... then married her. I imagine her personality must grate on people a bit, so there are likely some sort of haters out there.
Then for love. She's hopeless romantic obsessed with the notion of finding her true love - if he wasn't Isaiah, that is - and obsessed with having a romcom romance. However, she's never been phenomenal at relationships. Her and Isaiah cheated on each other for years before getting married. They had a loving, but toxic relationship for a long time. So now that he's dead, she has no shame in openly having one-night stands or friends with benefits. She views sex as being loved - if only temporary - and thrives off of that. But there's not a chance in hell that she'll be comfortable actually talking about "feelings."
So all that being said, she could use almost anything. There are a couple of canon characters for her family and whatnot. She has a step-mother that is only slightly older than she is, she has a teenage mother for a sister, etc. So canons are always wonderful to be picked up, but anything else is welcome as well. She's pretty new so yes, please plot. <3
