RESUME
URBAN OUTFITTERS - SEPTEMBER 2011 to DECEMBER 2012 reason for leaving:
- katie: "retail really wasn't for me. i spent too much time trying on the clothes than actually selling them. i spent my entire pay cheque there, which kind of refuted having a job to begin with, even if i did have an amazing discount. i modelled their stuff for a while, but that didn't interest me either. it wasn't enough. i had to have everything."
- shift supervisor: "we never were able to prove it, but with katie, there was always something off at the end of the night. it was never anything big, five dollars here and five dollars there, this was before we had a lot of procedures regarding loss prevention. inventory counts were off, usually in things she expressed that she loved and couldn't live without. she never bought a single thing, but occasionally she'd be seen by other employees on her off days, wearing items that looked like ours. we stopped giving her hours until she fizzled out, and we've never been able to prove it, but the cash is rarely off anymore. "
SHELL GAS - DECEMBER 2011 to JANUARY 2012 reason for leaving:
- katie: "the gas station was easy enough, i spent a lot of time selling smokes and scratch tickets. sometimes when i went out to pump gas, people would tip, but not nearly as well as waitressing. when i realized i could make more money doing other things. i always liked people. serving and bartender only seemed to be the next step.
- owber: "there always seemed to be customer complaints the nights after miss coppola worked. extra amounts charged, the loss of wallets. sometimes the cigarette and scratch ticket inventory was off, but seemed to always find itself again when she worked. there was always an excuse, always a little discrepancy, but nothing that ever caught my attention until they stopped happening after she was gone. the footage would go dark, there would be odd barriers in the way of cameras, usually on nights it snowed or rained. i'm not saying she did it, but it hasn't happened since."
FAT CAT NYC - FEBRUARY 2013 to MAY 2013 reason for leaving:
- kate: "fat cat was awesome. i've never liked a place as much as i liked it. smokey, often busier than dead, i bussed trays and cleaned more than anything. i wasn't quite a bartender and not quite a waitress, pretty much doing at little bit of everything. i got the job by hanging out there a lot, i guess the owner must have liked me. i've always been great at billards, but then i had to start getting serious about making real money, so i left.
- owner: "firing kate coppola was the hardest thing i've ever had to do. somehow, even to this day, i forget how it went and i only know how it was supposed to go. i always remember it as her quitting, face laughing at me, as if she knew it was coming and she didn't care. she was friendly with customers, and they loved her (perhaps a little too much), she was good at billards and won enough money if i remember, but the staff hated her and accused kate of a large number of things. cheating, pinching tips, stealing alcohol. myself? i never saw it, but i don't think you could make katie coppola stay anywhere, even if i had wanted her to."
WESTVILLE NYC - JULY 2013 to DECEMBER 2013 reason for leaving:
- kate: "waitressing just wasn't for me. sure, the money was great, the tips were amazing. i could make half my rent in a month if i saved them all properly. that however, tended to be really hard and i spent it on a lot of things. i always seemed to have less money, the more and more i made. but anyway, the food was great and the people were nice, but my feet hurt too much and there was too many hours a week. yeah, i think i want to bartend next."
- manager: "i hope i never see kate coppola again. from my button up shirts, to my prescriptions, to my credit card, she's got it all. if there is one thing i could tell any guy when they first meet her it's this: you'll want to take her home, but for the love of god, if you value your shit. don't do it."

THE ERRATIC LIFE OF KATE COPPOLA: A PROPOSAL
Author: Holt Harrington One Sentence Description: This manuscript delves into the fleeting, flakey habits of an NYC runaway, Kate Coppola. Category: Non-Fiction/Biography
Synopsis: Born and raised on the Upper East Side by two loving Columbia professors, Kate (Katherine) Coppola should have never turned out the way that she has: maladjusted, irresponsible, and problematic. A jack of all trades and the master of none, she uses her wit and charm to garner the hearts of bar owners, store managers, and retail supervisors before she inevitably leaves them high and dry with their pockets considerably lighter. Following her unsuspectingly, we dive into the life of this unadulterated, petty criminal who seems to always slip through the cracks.
