I know most people think that about their parents, especially when they become one themselves, but my folks really are... they adopted me as a baby, after having three girls of their own. I'm forever grateful to them for that, I wouldn't have any of the things I have without them. Most people hear that they're venture capitalists and think they must be soulless vultures, but you'll never meet more generous people. how long have you been playing football & what got you interested in it? I've been playing footie my whole life, well, at least since I could walk. After having three girls my dad was dying to have a boy to kick about a ball with, so he got me on the field as soon as he could. I've got a lot to thank my dad for. have you always lived in melbourne? have you ever seen yourself living elsewhere? Born and raised. My parents have a place in St Kilda, and another in Apollo Bay. As a kid I never wanted to leave the Bay, so I used to think long and hard about living there...it doesn't really work for work though, too far to travel for practice. But I'd like to retire there. Then there's New York, where my daughter lives. I wish I could make that work. what inspires your everyday life? Footie. Girls. My daughter. Definitely not in that order. I'm a big believer in balance - between work and play, between responsibility and self indulgence, everything. That's a principle I live to. if you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? You ready for the world's most predictable answer? Steak. Rare steak. I'd be pretty fucking lucky to still be in the game. So I'm hoping to be semi-retired, living in New York. It's not my favorite city in the world, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  what do you love most about being a dad? No matter how shitty my day is, all it takes is thirty seconds of FaceTime with Marlowe and I'll forget all about it. She's four this year and it kills me not being able to be with her all the time, every time I see her she's a different person. But she's always happy to see me, she's too young to be bitter.
