There was an obvious amount of tension that could clearly be cut with a knife. The last few months of their marriage, Freddie and Savannah had continuous fights over the pettiest things; things that, in the grand scheme didn't really matter. Instead of worrying about Anna, Sav went on tirades over her appearance and wanting to be "sexy" again for her husband. She kept putting off the duties that a typical mother would need to do. She kept finding excuses to spend time with her daughter -- often giving her off to the babysitter, her sister, her mother or Freddie's sister. Savannah thought that by spending less time with her, she would be able to get back to the normal life she had once created. But when Savannah went to her doctor, and her doctor sent her to a specialist, she knew things were not sitting quite right. She wasn't sitting quite right. If Savannah were being honest with herself, she hadn't been right in quite some time. And finally, she got the answers she wanted from the specialists who knew what they were doing. The boy she had fallen in love with some years ago, the man who was her husband…her child’s father had grown cold towards the young mother. He kept shutting down every attempt Savannah made at reconciling their marriage. Even when he came out and told Savannah that he had slept with someone after his father died, Savannah stayed with him. Not once did she flinch, or back away from him, from their marriage. At the end of the day, Savannah loved him deeply – more than anyone she’s ever loved before. She needed Freddie, and she was pretty sure that Freddie needed her. She knew that if things weren’t right with them, then she needed to right them. She needed him to know why things have been the way they have been…why she hasn’t been herself. Maybe if she clarifies this, then things will slowly go back to normal. Maybe they can be “them” again if she gets the truth out in the open. The slender blonde, wrapped in the thick blanket, settles down onto the coffee table facing the bearded man in front of her. She reaches her hand out and lets it settle on his knee. A second passes, and she leans forward to kiss the side of Freddie’s cheeks. Tears had been rolling down her face from an earlier bout of sadness that had hit Savannah like a ton of bricks. The girl is at her most vulnerable – and the only person she’d ever want to be this way with is Freddie. He had seen her at her worst, and she needed his reassurance that he was going to be there for her; through the thick and the thin they had promised. If she were being honest with him, she could get through this on her own. But, the added support of her husband made her feel a little bit more secure about the journey they’d be taking the next few months. The girl shifts her weight to let herself settle into his lap, a hand caresses the side of his face. Her arms settle around his neck before taking a deep breath in. Silence crept in before Savannah broke it with her voice…she needed to get this out. “Freds…can you listen to me for a second? I need to tell you this now…” |
