| Lillian "LaLa" Reeve McCarthy is an American folk singer and sister to Joseph McCarthy of Cat's Cradle. By day, she is a waitress at New York hotspot Grimes, owned by reality tv star Lydia Baldwin and the setting of a Bravo spinoff: Minding the Baldwins.

MEMORABLE QUOTES "All I'm hearing is that you don't trust your man. If you don't like it that my tits are out, be thankful you can't see my pussy.
Does anyone else get drunk puppet eyes?
When life throws you a curveball, get naked and act surprised. And always have a necklace on. Or huge fucking hoops.
I'm not the "new sammi". She has blonde hair, a fashion blog, I sing folk and wear hoops. While she is at fashion shows, I'm watching CMT.

--- In Lillian (professionally known as LaLa) McCarthy's small studio in Alphabet City, I watch as the folk singer struggles to find a vinyl to play on her Casio. She stands up only moments later, with an album everyone knows and a cheeky smile, and I see her brother's face flash as she fans herself with the record. Haven't you ever heard of Cat's Cradle? Of course, with the rising fame of the oldest McCarthy sibling, it is hard to ignore his voice and his scope. Lala, on the other hand, is a different story and a different sound all on her own.
So, your family is musical. It would seem that music is part of your genes. Did you ever feel pressured to play, given Joesph's talent and your parents' career path? LM: Of course I did. Who wouldn't? It's sort of people like who grow up in religion. When you wake up every morning and your Mama makes you pray, and every Sunday you get dressed and go to church, why wouldn't you feel the pressure to keep that going? I haven't decided if I hate it yet or not. So far it's fun, so I don't mind.
How much help have you had from the people associated with Joey's team? Does having a famous brother mean this process is easier for you than anyone else trying to get into this industry? LM: Obviously. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I didn't get sittings with producers or writers or labels because they hoped to see the same thing in me as they do with Joey. But I'm disappointing everyone, 'cause I'm really not him, and I don't sound like him, and I wouldn't ever care to. So yea, I've had some pretty privileged opportunities, but I didn't knock them out of the park.
Alright, you're your own market and your own brand. Which begs the question, why LaLa? LM: Blame my management. I think it's hilarious. I get flack for it but I guess I understand. It's so stupid it's memorable. There's like a billion Lillians, but there's only one LaLa!
