DADDY 1 . "Kitty is the perfect daughter. We should know, we worked so hard to find the perfect egg donor! So many didn't work out, either they didn't meet our expectations or they flaked on us, it was truly a traumatic experience. But we persevered and we were rewarded with Kitty. Of course she bears more physical resemblance to my husband, given that it was his sperm, but I think she's more like me than Kota when it comes to her personality. She's respectful, kind, so clever and so humble. We lucked out."
EX BOYFRIEND . "Kitty? Oh yeah, I remember her, sweet girl. We dated last summer after we met at a party, but it wasn't really going anywhere, just a summer fling. I eventually called it off since she seemed kinda immature, I think? Man, I totally forgot about that girl. I've been distracted since then I guess. My life went to shit not long after that, this old video of me saying the N word got spread around TikTok even though I was seriously just a kid back then... then my nudes got leaked, except they weren't really mine, they were photoshopped (you don't have to believe me, no one did then either) and even worse, they were photoshopped into conversations with a minor. I've never even met that kid, I have no idea who she was! It's fucked everything up for me. I lost my job, college got so hard with everyone treating me like some creep, it didn't even matter that some people believed me and knew it wasn't true. I had to drop out and move back to Montana. Anyway, not that that's got anything to do with Kitty, sorry. She's a nice girl, I'd hit her up again but she probably thinks I'm a creep too."
DADDY 2 . "I'm sure Carter has told you what a perfect angel our daughter is, so I'm going to try not to gush. Whilst Kitty is a wonderful girl, smart and sweet and so funny, I think I worry about her more than he does. She's fragile. I think we may have coddled her too much growing up. Though she excelled academically and had plenty of friends, I do worry that she's too soft for the real world, given what a prestigious school she went to. That's why I insisted she go to college, it felt like the most natural way to ease her in to adulthood, though I can't say I haven't lost sleep worrying that someone might take advantage of her."
EX BEST FRIEND . "You will never meet a faker bitch than Kitty Smith-Sato. Sure, when you first meet her she's sugar and light, so friendly and eager to get to know you. She'll be there with those big doe eyes and pouty lips, ribbons in her hair and a picture of her cat as her phone background, offering you sparkling rosé sake, and you'll think, wow, what a sweet girl, right? Wrong. That girl is evil incarnate. She's a bulimic, scheming, rotten, two-faced bitch who'll invite you to her dad's premiere one day and sleep with your boyfriend the next. I don't think she's capable of remorse. She's the most self-obsessed, clout addicted insane person in the world, and her dads made her that way. Those idiots would believe literally anything she told them, no matter how ludicrous... what can you expect from people who literally gave their daughter the initials K I S S? She's an accessory to them and I hold them entirely responsible for unleashing that evil on the world."
HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE . "God I hate Kitty Smith-Sato! Just kidding, who could hate her? She's literally the sweetest thing. It's crazy how lucky she is, her dads are famous movie stars - though I think one of them is retired now? - and she was literally carried in Gia Cuvo's womb. Like how insane is that? Talk about a winning hand. She's so humble though, an honor roll student who went out of her way to help people who needed it, academically or as a friend. One time in our junior year someone was posting these vicious rumors about me online, basically saying that I'd done something unspeakable to my dog, it was so, so, so awful. But Kitty was the first person to stand by my side. She was there for me when no one else was and I'll never forget that. She even said she'd try to set me up with her best friend Dom fucking Vinten Cuvo, 'cause she remembered me saying he was hot once! She's an angel, I hope NYU treats her right."

"I figured out what a VPN was long before Nord sponsored every Youtuber on the planet. As a kid, I was isolated... an only child, with parents who barely paid a minute of attention to me. Boohoo, the daughter of famous actors wasn't cuddled enough, too bad, so sad... I was fine. But I was alone, and the internet seemed to me to be the most incredible thing in the world. It really is, isn't it? So many people take it for granted, but if you know what you're doing it's the most powerful thing in the world. So very early on I was on Reddit, 4chan, lolcow, you name it, lying about my age, absorbing some of the most festering, dark sided content on the internet. There was no meme too deep fried, no forum too misogynistic for me. It was an escape.
Then other people got involved, real people. They made Facebook profiles and they migrated to Instagram, some people made Linkedins, they made TikToks I could easily find because they were stupid enough to share links from their own profile. It's crazy to me how much people put of themselves on the world wide web for anyone to find. As far as I'm concerned, if it's online then it's public, it's fair game, it's in the public domain. I'm smart enough to cover my tracks, to encrypt everything, to never use real credentials to make fake accounts. I mean, how stupid can you be? When it comes to social media, it's like shooting fish in a barrel and I'm a fucking world class sniper."

Carter Smith and Kota Sato, independently two of the most successful actors of their generation, though their careers took on different shapes. In a farcical number of movies produced over the last thirty years you can find Kato, often playing a villain or a sensei, a katana wielding samurai or a Chinese diplomat. If there was need for someone of vaguely East Asian heritage, Kota's name came up quickly. With it a reputation for professionalism, reliability-- a safe pair of hands. Possessing an endearing mix of humility and talent that has led to him being one of the most booked actors in Hollywood today. His husband, however, has left the industry, allegedly for good.
Carter Smith is not nearly as ubiquitous, though it's his name that continues to linger on lips. Hair the same color as the cornfields near where he grew up, Carter has always been the All American archetype; perfect teeth, tanned skin, glossy hair. As American as apple pie, as Rolling Stone once remarked. His approach was not to take on as many projects, but to go for the splashiest, the ones with the big name directors and the huge marketing budgets behind them. People came to know that his face splashed on billboards meant the start of summer, box office hits that made him a household name by the time he was twenty-one.
It was a shock when the Daily Mail announced to the public that he was not only gay but engaged, and engaged to another actor, no less. Most of all it was a shock to Carter, who'd had no intentions of coming out of the closet. The public reaction was everything he had feared it would be. It was insult enough that the nation's poster boy was queer, but to be queer and engaged to an Asian man? It was impossible to see where the homophobia ended and the racism began, the two feeding into and off of each other, emboldened by the interplay. The phone that had never stopped ringing stilled. The agent who took him to every restaurant in town suddenly had a full agenda. The career he had built fell apart-- after all, he was already ageing into dad roles. But who could buy him as the perfect American father now, now that they knew?
It was a fall from grace that he has never recovered from. Quitting shortly thereafter, the fact that Kota continues to work in such a monstrous industry is a bone of contention between them. After all, they have enough money to live ten lifetimes without a single lifestyle change. But continue Kota does, his passion for the work itself unchanged. After all, none of this was much of a shock to him, already well aware of the jaded world he had found himself in - directors telling him how much they had loved their recent trip to Korea, or costars mentioning that they "dated an Asian chick in college." At least if he's on set he can contribute to a positive sea change.
Not long after Carter's early retirement the couple decided to take the plunge and start a surrogacy journey, one that landed them Kitty. Carter has publicly dedicated his life to being a hands on dad, but in reality, he spends more time gallivanting around New York with his friends Gia Cuvo and Kimberly Jones than he does parenting, a fact that suits his daughter just fine.
