Early life American influencer and internet personality Drew Audre Nickford (née Day) was born on January 20, 1996. Alongside an older sister Cory (born 1994) and younger brother Jordan (born 1998), she was raised in the South Park neighborhood of Houston, Texas. Her parents, Julius and Kiana, are high school sweethearts from Austin and Houston, respectively. She is 5'9" and of mixed African American descent, with ancestry from the West Indies, north Africa, and east Africa.
Early on, the Day family fostered her interest in fitness and movement. Her grandfather was a football coach, her father an athletic talent scout after his professional career, her mother co-ran a gymnastics studio, and her brother played college football. Growing up, Drew ran track and participated in competitive club cheer and dance. She is outspoken about the benefits of team sports for youth and credits her upbringing for her physical health.
After high school Drew attended North Carolina Central University, a public HBCU in Durham, NC. She graduated in 2017 with a degree in Media Studies. Her sister went to Spelman and her brother to Ohio State. Of her college experience, Drew has said that she enjoyed the “social aspect more than the academics” and changed her major “probably six times” throughout her four years. “I didn’t know what I wanted to do at eighteen… I mostly went to make my parents proud, and so I wasn’t the only Day kid who didn’t go.”
Career During college, Drew was a social media intern for the college and content contributor for a lifestyle blog. On scholarship, she worked at a makeup counter “to learn from the best…and get a discount.” While she didn’t pursue sports through college or have pro aspirations, Drew casually started a YouTube channel DrewDay focused on stretching and workout routines “so I didn’t have to keep telling people what I did or end up as their personal trainer.” Purely for fun on social media, she showcased makeup and skincare products with friends of different complexions.
“I’m aware of how I look. For as long as I can remember, people have asked me about my diet, my workout routine, my skincare regiment, everything. And I’m transparent, happy to share. You won’t ever catch me trying to sell people a fantasy that they can look like me with these 10 easy steps. I got lucky with my genes and metabolism, period. However, I am not perfect. I do enjoy taking care of myself and it’s a lot of work. If what I recommend works for you or you like it, great! If not, I hope you find someone who does. You will. Social media is like one giant word-of-mouth—let’s trade tips and tricks.”
Initially sharing friendship-focused fitness videos, she gained significant popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic with her "Cheat Day" series on TikTok where she showcased various recipes and meals, blending her love for food with her lifestyle. She highlighted her sense of humor with the satirical series "Training Day", featuring a strict trainer persona. More often now she shares GRWMs and behind-the-scenes of carpet premieres with her husband. She has also guested several podcasts and YouTube channels of famous friends, including models and makeup artists.
Drew is actively involved in her sister’s entrepreneurial endeavors. Unhappy with the quality and marketing of major retailers, Cory founded DayGlo in 2016 for which Drew serves as the brand face. In their website about me: “Black-owned and sister-led activewear and athleisure brand offering stylish and sustainable clothing made with high-quality materials for women who want to make a bold fashion statement both in and out of the gym. DayGlo caters to every woman’s style and body, emphasizing inclusivity and universal sizing.”
Relationships Marco Nickford (b. 1990) is an American actor from Riverside, California. He began acting at a young age, first in minor roles on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon and later on teen dramas. Nickford gained wider prominence for his portrayal of Ritchie Valens in the biopic Ritchie (2022), for which he won the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. He has since appeared in several major films, currently filming his third of 2024 as a lead role. He is 5'11" of European and South American descent.
In 2019, Drew met her future husband while Marco was on location filming an apocalyptic Netflix series between Houston and Galveston. They were each at a restaurant with friends when "our orders were mixed up. It was our server's first week; nobody minded, we had a laugh because our plates were so similar we ended up at their table, pairing up. I sat next to Marco. There was a natural draw to each other. We kept in touch since that night, and the rest is history." By then, Nickford was a few roles away from his Hollywood break after well over a decade in the business.
Drew moved to Los Angeles to be with Nickford in 2020 and says “being together for one year through the pandemic was like speed-running through five. I knew he was the one when he first met my family and watched me house a rack of ribs in awe.” He proposed in 2022 while on vacation in Switzerland, and they married in 2023 at Annunciation Catholic Church, the oldest church in Houston. She wore custom Zuhair Murad with a 15-foot-long train. They honeymooned in the Balearic Islands.
Nickford keeps his personal life private but occasionally appears in Drew's pictures and videos despite not being on social media himself. She avidly supports his career and intensive method-acting, claiming to watch his movies and interviews while he's away from home.
Personal life “We were well-loved. My parents worked hard and loved hard. With three kids and all their extracurriculars there was never a dull moment in the Day house. We were always told we could do or be anything we desired. We went to church, we had chores and earned allowances, we hosted holidays. Depending on how we behaved, we were the three stooges or the three amigos. My grandpa said we were truly the Brains, Beauty, and Brawn in that order.” Drew is close with her siblings who still reside in Texas. Now Cory Eames, her sister married in 2019 and has two children in Houston. Sidelined by injuries during his collegiate career, Jordan Day is currently a barber in Dallas.
Of her inspirations, Drew has publicly expressed admiration for figures including Jackie Aina, Jessica Alba, Miranda Kerr, Rihanna, and others. She has interest in similar entrepreneurial pursuits, stressing “industry transparency, honesty, and quality in all things worn or applied.” She has appeared at several major events such as the Cannes Film Festival, Met Gala, and award shows in the fashion and entertainment spheres.
The Nickfords live in a multi-million-dollar house in Beverly Hills and have a Rottweiler named Moose. She proudly reps Houston sports teams and hosts parties during the NFL season. She is a huge fan of fellow Houstonians Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion and went to four Renaissance Tour dates. On social media she posts her monthly favorite products (skincare, fashion, books) in addition to unboxing of PR packages and after-party gift bags. She often donates money, products, and time to women-focused organizations.
Famous friends as well as film industry insiders often describe her as "sweet, kind, and humble. She's a class-act who remembers everyone's names and asks about your family." During the holidays on set of her husband's films, Drew has been known to bring food and gifts for the crew as well as send them home with plates. On sharing her husband's spotlight, Drew has expressed that she most enjoys the collaboration and support afforded by it, and that while she is still unaccustomed to many aspects of fame she is happy to show the public behind the curtain.
