T E N Y E A R S A G O in Miami's Latin music scene, Benicio Cristian Batista Otero was an audacious newcomer with labyrinths shaved into his scalp and a closet full of crazy fashions. Despite his infectious hype man presence, Otero remained largely behind-the-scenes producing some of your fave reggaetón and Latin trap hits. Some of his recent album work includes Rauw Alejandro's Playa Saturno, Álvaro Díaz's SAYONARA, Omar Courtz's Primera Musa and of course Karol G's Mañana Será Bonito. Now, some of his collaborators return the favor by appearing as his features. For years Otero has dodged questions about a solo album while consistently cranking out bop after bop for other artists. The producer-to-star route is not uncommon in the realm of reggaetón—see Feid and Mora—which Otero seems to have been entertaining over the last few months by dropping several singles. It started earlier this spring with 'La Noche de Anoche' ("last night's night") alongside Rosalía. Just in time for the Governor's Ball, 'Party' with headliner Rauw Alejandro dropped. After that, on the heels of summer was 'Callaíta' ("quiet") with Tainy and a month later, 'Adivino' ("fortune teller") with Myke Towers. Most recently was a collaboration with Mexican band Grupo Frontera, even releasing a video for the song 'un x100to' (stylized "1%"). And little did fans know, his drop of 'Seda' ("silk") with Bryant Myers was an album teaser. Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana is Otero's first solo studio LP. The 27-year-old Puerto Rican solidifies himself as a triple threat in producing, songwriting and vocals. In this album he pulls back the curtain and lets us into his head for 18 songs — strictly on his terms. It showcases a vibrant blend of reggaetón, trap, and urban pop, creating a dynamic sound that reflects his eclectic style. The tracks showcase his ability to seamlessly transition between raw, emotional storytelling and club-ready bangers. Thematically it is centered on some of Otero's favorite topics: sex, counting racks, and his love of Puerto Rico (featuring many fellow Boricuas). Let him wind you up those lower-register "ay"s and now-signature "yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah" before he delivers heat. Below are our favorite picks of the album. "WHERE SHE GOES” is a song about missing a girl. There is a sense of longing as he questions whether the titular woman has truly moved on after their passionate night together. The track maintains a vibrant reggaetón rhythm with a seductive beat that complements the flirtatious undertones of the lyrics. Otero's confident delivery, paired with sharp, evocative imagery, creates an engaging narrative about the essence of modern romance—intense, messy, and irresistibly magnetic. It is his only English track name...and he says a grand total of eleven English words in it. “TELÉFONO NUEVO” begins with a moony synth-driven melody before transitioning into a more upbeat pop beat, like two different songs stitched together. When a disconnect tone cuts off the beat it’s like your brain just dropped the call, transitioning into a rap heavy bop when Luar La L enters. Both artists brought their best to this track, every lyric packed and landed as the pair delivered heat back and forth about rising to success and leaving the past behind you. It's aggressive and braggadocios in that gritty rap way. "PERRO NEGRO” showcases Otero and Feid’s electrifying chemistry, paying homage to the vibrant Medellín nightclub—fit for a Colombiano feature. Their voices soar atop this scintillating reggaetón track, complete with pulsating beats that transport listeners mentally to the heart of Colombian nightlife. The lyrics encourage celebration, flirtation and freedom, inviting listeners to let loose and enjoy life. The playful banter between the artists highlights themes of spontaneity and desire, telling girls to abandon their boyfriends for a night at the club. Imagine partying with these two! "UN PREVIEW” is a vibrant exploration of longing and introspection wrapped in reggaetón flair. Layered with vibrant synths and playful melodies, the track pays homage to the genre’s roots while incorporating fresh elements that reflect Otero’s innovative style. Lyrically it details adventurous desire and an eagerness to explore love again, undeterred by past experiences. Immediately fans latched on and speculated it must be about Spanish model camille de vries . And, as the last song of the album with such a name, fans are already wondering about the sounds of a hopeful second album. ALBUM CONTENTS: *EDITOR PICKS 01. NADIE SABE 02. MONACO 03. FINA FT.
