Meet my parents, Daisy and Noah McCoy. The lovely pair became friends through their respective chapters at Boston University. Mom was a Tri-Delt PR major from Connecticut. Dad was a Delta Tau Delta photography major from Providence. They met through their mixers, and began dating shortly after that. They graduated college together, and remained in Boston until us kids all fled the city. Now, Mom is the publicist for Mariska Hargitay, based out of LA. And Dad? He's a photographer shooting for celebrity weddings, who is also based out of LA. In short, they are loving, doting parents. Taught my siblings and I life lessons, and gave us everything we needed to be successful. They were our crying shoulders when we needed it, and the firm hand when we deserved it. I love my parents to death, and I would absolutely do anything for them. Literally anything
______________________________________ I began my college search halfway through junior year. My parents, of course, wanted me to remain somewhat close to home. However, I had a completely different opinion. I adore Boston, and I love my home. But I NEEDED to get the hell outta there. I knew i wanted to be a wedding planner from the start. And Dad shooting all of those beautiful weddings just got me so inspired when it came to choosing a major..which then impacted my college search. I came across Indiana University through my Mom's friend, who had a son graduate from there in 2006. So when it came time to choosing which ones i would apply at, Indiana was definitely at the top. When I visited, however, i just completely fell in love. I fell in love with the people, the girls from Phi Mu, and the campus. I graduated magna cum laude from Indiana in 2012, and I could not thank IU for all they have done for me, then, now, and in the future. ________________________________________ I met Benjamin Keller at a mixer with his fraternity back in the fall of 2008. We were both so drunk that we couldn't process any thought or any comment that came out of our mouths. I remember conversing with him about politics or something shitty like that, and woke up next to him the next morning. We became the best of friends after that, and have been that way ever since. He is truly my best male friend I could've ever had. He understands me, and he gets me 10000%. He may not understand any of my wedding planning gibberish, but he's supported me all the way from day one. We've had our moments of kisses, and flirtatious remarks. And undoubtedly, I am in love with him. I've never felt so strongly about someone before. But he's dating Ava Hudson, and I'm not going to get in the way of that. So, if all I'll ever be is his best friend, then I'll take that. ________________________________________ The Fierce Four. The Breakfast Club. My siblings and I are that close. Callum is the oldest at 29. He's married to this beautiful girl named Ally, and together they have a daughter, Larissa. I go to Callum for basically everything. He is my everything. He's the anchor of the group, as the oldest should be. Then there's my twin. Basically. At 23, Sienna was born a year after me, to the date. She and i were connected at the hip from the time she was born. Sharing friends, memories, moments..and sometimes guys. She's currently in medical school..she wants to be a nurse. She's the girl I call when everything seems to be going haywire. She's always there for a good cry or a good gossip. And then there's the baby of the family, Oliver. Merely 21, he's currently studying at the Berklee College of Music, performance. He's been a gifted pianist since the start. And even though he's the baby, he's protective. And good to talk to. And just an incredible overall brother. Even though we're spread out through the country, we're still close as ever. I love my siblings. So. Much. ________________________________________ My ultimate goal is to become a wedding planner for The Wedding Pavilion at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. But for now? I'll settle for New York City. I have wanted to become a wedding planner from a very young age. My father has been a wedding photographer since I was a young girl, and would often bring me along to his work place. He let me in on the ins and outs of the weddings. Whether it be working with the brides, picking out the cake, picking out the decor...etc. I was entranced and excited about it from the first wedding I was able to attend. I have an eye for detail, and know all the questions to ask. When looking for jobs after graduation, I came across The New York Wedding Co. by accident. I found it through a passerby on IU's campus. I contacted the company, sent in my portfolio, and got a phone call two weeks later. And I've been with NYW Co ever since. I've been able to plan some of the most incredible weddings in the city, and surrounding areas. I've been exposed to a high level of clientele, and have learned many things throughout the journey. And yes, this does make me want a wedding that much more. ________________________________________ your name Karen play-by Erin Heatherton your most recent work link to thread
